Since 1997, Foundation “United Women“ Banja Luka is providing free and gender sensitive legal assistance, advices, and information for women survivors of domestic violence and other forms of gender based violence.
Women from wide region of Banja Luka can receive following forms of legal assistance: information on their rights and procedures/steps of protecting their rights in relation to the cases of domestic violence and other forms of gender based violence, preparing the first petition to the courts and other governmental institutions (in cases of divorce, seeking alimony for underage children, compensation of non-material damage in relation to domestic violence and other forms of gender based violence, etc.) preparation of all other documents needed for procedures in front of the institutions, preparation of regular and extraordinary remedies and providing expert opinion, preparation personal requests for the protection measure of sheltering to the Safe House (in accordance with the Article 5 of the Law on Protection from Domestic Violence of Republika Srpska, Official Gazette of RS RS, no. 108/13).

The focus of our work is on:
- Telephone counseling
- Assistance in reporting gender-based and domestic violence
- Personal legal counseling (after prior consultation and agreement)
- Joint exploration of possible solutions to the problem
- Legal support in dealing with administrative bodies and services, courts, police, and other governmental and non-governmental institutions
- Legal advice and preparation of legal submissions to institutions (requests, appeals, complaints, reminders...) as needed (in cases of divorce, child support claims, maintenance), preparation of all other necessary documents for procedures before institutions, legal remedies, etc.
- Preparation of requests for protective measures, including placement in a safe house, and other protective measures against the perpetrator of violence
- In certain cases, accompaniment in civil and criminal proceedings as a trusted person
